nextflow plugin nf-tower:cache-backup ignores nextflow.config since 26.08.0-edge, so Azure log backup fails

Reproduced

The nf-tower:cache-backup plugin command no longer reads nextflow.config, so Azure log backup fails with "Missing AZURE_STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME".

What Badgr ran

Ran the reporter's dummy-Azure reproduction (config with a dummy account name and key) with Nextflow 26.04.6 and 26.10.0 on macOS (arm64, Temurin 21), locally.

What came back

  • 26.04.6: the log showed AZURE_STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME:nxfreprodoesnotexist and the upload warning from the dummy key.
  • 26.10.0: AZURE_STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME:null and "ERROR ~ Missing AZURE_STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME".

Run locally with a dummy key; no Azure account was used.

Checked 2026-10-14 in Badgr’s local development environment.
