per_user_oauth Copilot models in responses mode fail with "requires litellm_credential_name"

GitHub issue: https://github.com/BerriAI/litellm/issues/45883

Confirmed from source (not run)

Chat requests that go through the chat-to-Responses bridge for a per_user_oauth Copilot model fail even though the deployment sets litellm_credential_name.

What Badgr ran

Ran LiteLLM at the issue's commit (7ff5010) and called get_litellm_params with github_copilot_auth_type=per_user_oauth and a credential name, then the per-user auth check, locally on CPU. A full proxy request needs a Copilot account and was not run.

What came back

  • get_litellm_params returned litellm_credential_name as None while keeping github_copilot_auth_type=per_user_oauth.
  • github_copilot_auth_mode with no credential name and per_user_oauth raised BadRequestError: "github_copilot_auth_type per_user_oauth requires litellm_credential_name", the error in the issue.

Code reading plus a local call: the end-to-end 400 through /v1/messages was not run, because it needs a Copilot account.

Checked 2026-10-11 in Badgr’s local development environment.
