WAN 2.2 i2v: second run is 4 to 5 times slower on AMD GPU (ROCm)

Not run

On an AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 with ROCm 7.2, the second Wan 2.2 image-to-video run takes 4 to 5 times longer than the first.

What Badgr ran

Nothing was run: the issue is specific to ROCm on gfx1201 and Badgr's providers offer NVIDIA GPUs, so an NVIDIA run would not test it.

What came back

  • The reporter points at a VAE_KL_MEM_RATIO of 2.73 for ROCm overestimating memory, and at CausalConv3d caching.

A run on NVIDIA would only show the baseline the reporter wants.

Checked 2026-10-14 in Badgr’s local development environment.
