[R&D] Generate 3D plant models outside a cloud service: costed go/no-go spike

GitHub issue: https://github.com/ArboreTeam/Arbore/issues/283

Not run

The team wants a costed recommendation on generating plant 3D models on its own GPU instead of the Meshy API.

What Badgr ran

Tried to run TripoSR (the lightest candidate, about 8 GB VRAM) on rented GPUs through Badgr. The first run stopped at dependency installation (rembg and onnxruntime missing, torchmcubes not on PyPI); a corrected run exited at start on a Vast.ai host.

What came back

  • No mesh was produced.
  • The issue names Hunyuan3D 2.1, TRELLIS.2, TripoSR, InstantMesh and Stable Fast 3D, and a 24 GB target (RTX 4090, L4, A10G).

Not run to a result. The issue's own price table (RunPod community RTX 4090 at $0.34/h) is theirs, not measured here.

Checked 2026-10-14 in Badgr’s local development environment.
